Melanie grew up in Texas, and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Psychology, and a minor in Business. A decade in the corporate arena provided strong skills and experience in customer service, sales, contract negotiations, and management, for which she was recognized nationally. 

She considers herself blessed to have been able to stay at home in order to raise two beautiful daughters, and at the same time serve her community. Her passion for education led to nine years on the Board of Directors of the Art Docent Program in the Washington Union School District, and twelve years managing a gift shop which supports religious education. Melanie also provided advocacy aid to parents of children with learning differences.
